Frequently asked questions
How do I know when a guava is ripe?
It gives slightly to gentle pressure, the skin lightens from deep green to yellow-green, and you can smell it from across the room.
Should I refrigerate guava?
Only once ripe. Cold stops an unripe guava ripening and dulls the aroma.
Can I eat the skin and seeds?
Yes, both. The skin carries much of the vitamin C, and the seeds are soft enough to chew in a ripe fruit.
Why is the flesh pink?
Pink-fleshed varieties are naturally so, and are usually sweeter and less seedy than white-fleshed guava.
